About Me

My name is Joy Tian.
My name is Joy Tian. I am from Beijing, China. I speak Mandarin, and some English. I came to America in 2001. Before I came to America, I was a music editor in a publishing house. I am now taking an ESL class and work hard at my English so that I can improve my English quickly and have better chances to get a job. Life is not easy for a new immigrant in the States, especially in a big city like New York, but it is worth trying because there are so many opportunities here. I enjoy my life here, busy, challenging and exciting.

I have many hobbies. As a composer, of course I like music. Classical music is my major interest. I also like reading, arts, sports, watching movies and TV, and traveling. But before everything else, I must improve my English. Besides taking classes, I also listen to the casette, watch English teaching programs on TV, or on DVD, VCD. I learn everywhere. In the train, on the bus, on the street, and from everybody who speak better English than me. I am sure my hard work will pay in the long run.

Welcome,

I agree with you that life isn't always that easy -- but you will find opportunities in these United States!

I enjoyed reading your blog and wish you success in whatever endeavors you plan to follow.

Is city of Beijing even larger than New York City?

I understand that there is much air pollution because of the building and housing boom?

From your life experience, you are able to see
the other half of planet Earth! I hope that life in New York City brings peace and happiness to you!

Hi Joy,

The pleasures in life through the appreciation of Art and Music is a noble goal for all of us to achieve.

We are all very busy with our lives and try to strike a balance in our daily needs.

Your written English is very good -- how about your spoken English?

Listening to casettes, and the various other offerings will help you learn more quickly.
